Club Rules and Safety
As with any sport, there are a few judo rules that ensure that the sessions are fun and safe for everyone:
We ask that parents/guardians of new starters stay and watch for the first few sessions while they settle in.
Parents/guardians of our youngest judo players (our Vipers, aged under 8) to be present at the sessions for all Vipers. We recognise that you may need to pop out from time to time but if you need to do so, please nominate someone who can act as guardian while you are out.
Contact / permissions forms to be completed for everyone on the mat.
Players must bring a drink, ideally water, to keep hydrated during the session
Players should remove their shoes before walking on the judo mat area (“Tatami”)
Players should wear shoes at all times when off the judo mat area
It is important that the judo mat are kept clean, so please make sure you (and your judo gi) are too
Coaches should be informed if players have injuries. Cuts and wounds should be covered and protected
Players should inform the coach if they wish to leave the mat area
Players should respect and listen to the coaches
Finger and toe nails should be kept short to avoid accidental scratching of your opponent
All jewellery including earrings, piercings, rings, necklaces or harmful objects must be removed
As you would expect from a sport based on respect, any aggressive behaviour is not permitted on the judo mat.
